Workforce Development Center Initiative


The Southern Boone County R-1 School District, Mid-Missouri Regional Planning Commission, City of Ashland and Ranken Technical College are partnering to bring the workforce development center to fruition. Construction is projected to begin in Summer/Fall 2021 and take one year to complete. 


The Center Will

  • Coordinate programs and efforts to provide a workforce with the skills and training required of industries.
  • Link students with career opportunities as they obtain their high school diplomas. 
  • Educate, train, attract and retain a qualified labor force to support and accommodate economic growth within the central Missouri region of Boone, Callaway, Cole, Cooper, Howard and Moniteau counties.


Community Benefit

  • Fill gaps in the local job market based on critical shortages identified by industry. 
  • Provide educational opportunities for adults that will open doors to successful careers.
  • Offer good paying career opportunities. 
  • Attract new industries into our communities. 
Ways To Give

Campaign Details


The Investing in Tomorrow’s Workforce Capital Campaign will build a workforce development center (Center) in Ashland that trains high school and adult students in Boone, Callaway, Cole, Cooper, Howard and Moniteau counties. Serving 6 mid-MO counties, construction is projected to begin in Summer/Fall 2021 and take one year to complete.
